Villa with a view / Bathroom Reveal

Welcome to the family bathroom reveal in this villa renovation! Watching the transformation of this creaky old arts & crafts villa into a gorgeous modern home was really special, as it required a huge amount of motivation and dedication by the owners to retain and restore the existing heritage elements of the home that could have more easily (and cheaply) been stripped out. This family bathroom for three girls is upstairs in an attic-like space so there were plenty of angle rooflines to contend with. The key was to include layers like textured tiles, panelled cabinetry, shutters and arched mirrors that have a nod to the home’s heritage while not making the space feel too cluttered.

The Orobico Grey Honed Tiles from Tile Space are light enough to keep the room feeling open, with a soft grey veining that’s classic and timeless. Arched mirrors echo the original archways in the ground floor home, and add softness to all the roof angles. The white vessels basins are more layered and elegant than an undermount basin would be in this home, and sit on soft lacquered grey cabinetry made by Neo Design featuring a panelled profile on the front. Organic brass tapware will age and patina over time - such a nice choice for this home rather than a super modern tap. I just love these cute little dot wall lights from ECC, they emit a lovely soft glow and are the perfect size to fit between bathroom mirrors.

This little attic room sits next to the bathroom, and as there is plenty of storage in the home the owners decided to transform it into a bath room. Using a back to wall bath meant no space was wasted and the bath is easy to clean behind, yet you get the appeal of a pedestal bath. A long recess with LED strip lighting creates the perfect spot for products at easy reach.

The home features black steel accents so we decided to repeat these in the bathroom spaces with the addition of black shower framing and a floor-to-ceiling black steel towel ladder. The Milli Heated Towel Ladder from Reece can be purchased in custom lengths to perfect fit your space. Reeded glass instead of clear adds character, balances the black steel out, and is more private for the three kids using this family bathroom. Overall this practical space is a great addition to this #villawithaview project.
