weekend edit / door handles

I’m a huge fan of handles on cabinetry in kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and storage cupboards. They’re the jewellery of the home, adding a unique shape and finish that helps communicate the design style. They’re also practical and help to keep cupboard fronts fingerprint free. This week we’ve been sourcing handles for a tonal, natural interior with a playful personality - here’s a round-up of favourite finds.

Tips for selecting and maintaining cabinet handles:

  1. Consider the finish: there are so many options from steel and brass to stone and timber. Choose a finish that complements the style of your cabinets and the overall design of your space.

  2. Pull together your kitchen cabinetry, flooring, benchtop, tapware and splashback samples. Look at the common undertones and colours and keep this in mind when shopping for handles.

  3. Pay attention to the size: Cabinet handles come in a range of sizes. Make sure to choose handles that are proportional to the size of your cabinets and drawers.

  4. Think about the style: Handles come in a variety of styles, from sleek and modern to traditional and ornate. Choose a style that fits or visually adds to the overall aesthetic of your space.

  5. Clean and maintain: To keep metal cabinet handles looking their best, clean them regularly with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or polishing products that could scratch the surface.
