8 tips for Seasonal spring Styling
As winter's chill recedes, the first blossoms of spring begin to appear. It's also about the same time when we start feeling an undeniable urge to breathe new life into our living spaces. Spring is all about renewal, and indeed an ideal moment to refresh ourselves and our environment. Still, it doesn't mean you have to overhaul every room to capture the essence of spring—the key words here are accessories curation. Here's how to easily transform your home this spring, one small step at a time.
1. Choose a Spring-Inspired Colour Scheme
The first step is selecting a colour palette that embodies the season. Spring colours are all about joyful freshness, so consider introducing a combo of a couple of beautiful accent colours. I’m loving the combinations of sage green, moss green and blush pinks, the hues that resemble nature awakening outdoors and new blossoms. But you won't go wrong with earthy tones such as terracotta, buttercup yellow, and clay, either. Once you've settled on your palette, let it guide your choice of table linens, dishware, and accessories. Adding these accents in small ways throughout a room or home will help create a cohesive and harmonious look.

2. Style your table
For many, the dining table is the heart of the home, where family and friends gather to share meals and create memories. Often meals are fast and the styling is nonexistent though - a simple step that can be so satisfying. Start your spring refresh from there, with an accessible spring-inspired tablescape which can dramatically alter the entire ambience of your dining room. Table settings of placemats, plates, napkins, napkin rings, cutlery and glassware can be pulled out any day of the week to elevate the everyday, from a Sunday family breakfast to a dinner for two. Layering is a key principle in table styling that makes your setup stand out. Start with a base: a charger plate or placemat that complements your chosen colour palette. Grow the setup from there according to the occasion and menu, with dinner plates, salad plates, and bowls in coordinating or contrasting colours. Don't be afraid to experiment; play with your options and enjoy. Try mixing and matching different patterns for bonus style points. Complete the setup with serveware. Select the cutlery finish and glassware type according to the rest of the scheme.
3. Add An Elegant Floral Centrepiece
No spring table is complete without a floral centrepiece. You don't need to be a floral designer to create a stunning arrangement; for everyday occasions, even a simple bouquet of seasonal flowers will do. You can also step away from the conventional and arrange seasonal greenery or branches. Use a vase that will make them pop, perhaps a classic ceramic piece, large urn, or sculptural ceramic.
4. Let there be light
Candles can upscale any setup and any atmosphere. Go for varying heights and shapes to create a dynamic look. Candleholders can also become a focal point on your table, whether simple DIY mason jars, vintage brass, or modern glass designs. As for the scents, the best choices are those resembling or complementing the spring freshness, such as floral or citrus notes.
5. Make a first impression
The entranceway is the first space guests encounter when they enter your home. Well-designed, it sets the tone for the rest of the house, so offer your visitors a warm welcome with a setup that reflects the season. One stunning entryway vignette is all you need. Use a console table, round table or bench as the base depending on the size of your space and grow it from there, displaying seasonal items. Think from both aesthetic and functional points. A decorative bowl can hold keys, for example, or a nice tray. Place a stylish basket next to the console for umbrellas. A mirror above the console is always a good idea: it reflects light, creates the illusion of more space, and you can always check out your look once more before leaving the house.
6. Play with Texture and Tone
A variety of textures and materials makes even a monochrome layout visually dynamic. Mix different finishes of wood, metal, ceramic, and fabric in your spring set-ups. For example, pair a wooden console table with a metal-framed mirror and complete the arrangement with ceramic vases filled with spring flowers. When it comes to colour, extend your main palette into the entranceway with cushions, rugs, or artwork.
7. Enliven the Space With Greenery
Plants and flowers are a must-have in any spring decor scheme. A tall potted plant in the corner, a vase of fresh flowers on the side table, or even a small succulent on a shelf can make a big difference.
8. Update your Coffee Table Styling
The functional centrepiece of the living room is also a prime spot for seasonal styling. It takes only a few thoughtful touches to transform this everyday piece of furniture into a stylish focal point. Choose a few of your favourite coffee table books that reflect the themes of spring—gardening, travel, nature, or art. Stack them neatly and perhaps top them with a decorative object. Wooden trays or stone coasters always look good on a coffee table. Combine them with a small arrangement of fresh flowers or a few sprigs of greenery in a glass jar, and put that on a woven placemat. Don't be afraid to mix textures, as that is the shortcut to achieving a dynamic, layered look.
TIP: Use a tray to create a spring vignette. Start with a large tray as your base, then layer in a few key pieces like a candle, a reed diffuser, a decorative object, and/or a small plant or vase of flowers. Vary the heights and shapes of the items, and plan a colour palette inspired by spring.
Small Changes, Big Impact
Sometimes, it's the little things that make the biggest difference. If you haven't planned to spend much on new decor this season, small touches like a a fresh door mat, grouping existing potplants or herbs, a couple of new cushions, or a new bedding combo from what you already own, are easy but effective updates. Even just rearranging the furniture is all it takes to refresh a room. Try moving your sofa, chairs, or coffee table to a new position—you might be surprised by the freshness of the perspective. Just don't forget the flow of the room, and leave enough space to move around comfortably.
Get creative and most importantly, have fun!
